Ellen Kolman has a passion for teaching children the love of Jesus.
For more than 30 years, she has taught and entertained children in both church and Christian school settings.
A former preschool, kindergarten and first-grade teacher, Ellen sought out creative ways to help young children understand the concepts of kindness, empathy and forgiveness. This inspired Ellen to write her first children’s book, Seeds of Sunshine.
Ellen and her husband, Andy, live in Ashtabula, Ohio.

When classmates use mean words and hurt Sunshine’s feelings, Grammy takes him on a nature walk where a cocoon and dandelion puffs provide lessons in Jesus’s love and forgiveness.

Feathers and feelings fly when a young hedgehog’s joyful singing wakes a bitter elderly owl. Upset he has angered Mr. Hoot, Sunshine, runs to his Grammy’s house where she shares the owl’s history.
Inspired to share the love of Jesus with Mr. Hoot, Sunshine, with the help of his Grammy, creates a special gift. Will Sunshine’s gift of loving kindness melt the old owl’s heart?
