About Ellen Kolman

Ellen Kolman has a passion for teaching children the love of Jesus.

For more than 30 years, she has taught and entertained children in both church and Christian school settings. A former preschool, kindergarten and first-grade teacher, Ellen sought out creative ways to help young children understand the concepts of kindness, empathy and forgiveness.

This inspired Ellen to write her first children’s book, Seeds of Sunshine.

“The vision for my books is to provide Christian families with sweet, engaging stories about sharing Jesus’ love and forgiveness with those around us.”

Sunshine Makes A Difference is the second title in the Sunshine series; it will be published next year (2024).

Ellen and her husband Andy live in Ashtabula, Ohio and have five adult children and three grandchildren.

She is active in the various children’s ministries at her church, including Vacation Bible School.

Other passions include performing in local theater, reading and collecting children’s literature, writing poetry, and sharing her love of books with her grandchildren.

Ellen’s life Bible verses are Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.”

Psalm 25: 4 & 5,

“Show me Your ways, O Lord;

Teach me Your paths.

Lead me in Your truth and teach me,

For You are the God of my salvation;

On You I wait all the day.”

Ellen is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
