Grab a cup of coffee and join me on my sunny back porch. I have lots of news to share. You know, I thought when my children were grown, and retirement was close at hand life would slow down. Nope! It has taken off at warp speed-and that is okay. I am having the time of my life and I am so grateful to God and all of you for your encouragement and support! Your prayers and kind words mean everything to me. So, what’s new for Ellen Kolman Books?
Well, first of all, I have retired from teaching. (Although I can’t tear myself away from it entirely, I’ll still substitute teach, do read-alouds, and teach an elective.) My plan is to write full-time. I have several projects I am working on including my first novella and a memoir about our adult son with autism, as well as more children’s books! I am super excited and thankful for the opportunity to continue to learn and grow as a Christian writer.

A Special Kind of Halo launched on May 5th and has enjoyed the top spot for New Releases for several weeks. I had the honor of reading the story to the little girl who inspired this book and her family. This book will hopefully touch many hearts and bring comfort to other families who have had a child suffer from a serious injury.
In my story, it follows the journey of a little girl whose favorite toy is an angel doll who is her constant companion and reminds her God is watching over her. After she is in an accident, she needs to wear a halo brace to help heal her neck. During her lengthy recovery, “Angel,” who also has a halo, is a source of comfort and strength. The soft artwork enhances the hopeful vibe of this beautiful book. The story is written in a gentle way children can understand without being upsetting.
All author royalties will go to the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital. Buy your copy today. Just click on Books and then click on A Special Kind of Halo.
CONGRATULATIONS to my sister Shelley Terry, she has launched her second book in the Darwin the Wonder Dog series: Darwin the Wonder Dog Goes Camping! If readers will remember Shelley and I wrote together Darwin the Wonder Dog Goes to School, and it was a hit!

Based on the real-life stories of Shelley Terry’s Jack Russell Terrier puppy: Darwin the Wonder Dog Goes to School and Darwin the Wonder Dog Goes Camping are both available on Amazon! Coming soon

Ellen Kolman Books has many more titles in the works, so stay tuned!
An author meet and greet and book signing is in the works specifically for A Special Kind of Halo, hopefully in July. This will give anyone a chance who has bought a copy to get it signed or buy one at the signing. There will be a limited number of Angel dolls to purchase as well. Buying copies of my books, even at cost, and buying the angel dolls is expensive. Because for A Special Kind of Halo I am not excepting any personal compensation, I am asking for help in the purchase of books to sell and the angel dolls. Private message me on social media or personal text if you are able to help. One hundred percent of donated money plus the profit from the book/angel sales goes to the hospital that helped the family. Thank you in advance, this whole project is a labor of love through prayer.

Thank you for spending time with me on my back porch today! Enjoy the warmer sunny weather! Love, Ellen
