Welcome April/Welcome Spring

Pull up a chair, pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea and settle in for some news and views from Ellen Kolman Books. Time and events are moving fast and it is tough to keep up with all of it! But, before I get into all that is going on, I want to say Thank you for your endless support and encouragement! Your kind words and prayers mean everything to me. I write sweet Christian books to provide families with young children an option that includes Biblical principles and Scripture. In light of that, two books launched before Easter: An Egg Called Easter, published by Read, Believe, Grow Publishing, and Who Is Jesus? Easter Devotional and Coloring Book, published by Prolific Pulse Press LLC.

These two very different books have enjoyed a successful launch that included a book signing at The Wall Street Coffee Company in Jefferson on March 21st. Everyone who has read them has said they really enjoy them and appreciate the message of Jesus’s love and resurrection. I am thrilled with how they turned out and writing seasonal books for meaningful holidays has been a dream come true for me. If my books can become part of a family’s holiday traditions, that is the absolute best I can hope and pray for.

On the heals of the Easter books is Darwin the Wonder Dog Goes to School, published by Read Believe Grow Publishing. This sweet, true story I co-wrote with my sister Shelley Terry. Writing together is something we have wanted to do since our days sitting side by side at our local newspaper as fellow reporters. Shelley’s precious Jack Russell Terrier pup, Darwin, crossed the rainbow bridge several years ago after living a full and exciting life along side Shelley’s granddaughter, Abbie. If you love dogs you need to buy this book! AND, Shelley already has under contract, Darwin the Wonder Dog Goes Camping! So more Darwin adventures are underway!

Crabby Abby the Decorator Crab’s Big Heart, published by Prolific Pulse Press LLC, got exciting news this week! It was named a Finalist in the Children’s Book International Awards for 2026! This award means so much to me because it is all about honoring excellence. Crabby Abby was entered in the Religion genre, and even though she didn’t win, just being a finalist is so exciting. Crabby Abby has earned her place among excellent children’s literature.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Scuppers the Pirate Puffin will launch this summer! Published by Little Roni Publishers, this super fun puffin who loves being a pirate along with his two best mates, Eddy the gray seal and Doris the seagull, will discover the best treasure is friendship.

Launching this spring is a precious book based on a true story, called A Special Kind of Halo, published by Read Believe Grow Publishing. This book will touch many hearts and hopefully bring comfort to families who have had a child suffer from a serious injury. It follows the journey of a small girl named Amy, whose favorite toy is an angel doll who is her constant companion and reminds her God is watching over her. After Amy is in a bicycle accident while riding with her mom, she needs to wear a halo head brace to help heal her neck. During Amy’s lengthy recovery, “Angel,” who also has a halo, is a source of comfort and strength for Amy.

All money from the sales of this book will go to an area children’s hospital.

Next book signing will be at the Ashtabula County Fair, in Jefferson. I will be under the grandstands with all of my books ready to meet my readers and make new friends!

Thank you for reading my blog and following me on social media! Your love and support mean everything!

Love, Ellen
